Housed at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, this is the biggest flying boat ever built and has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in history. It was constructed entirely of wood (birch, not spruce, though) due to wartime shortage of aluminum and concerns about weight by the Hughes Aircraft Company and only made one flight, on Nov. 2, 1947.
We had previously toured the museum (see pictures below) so didn't go inside but rather looked around the extensive grounds, which have grown significantly since our last visit.
