'The Windmill at Wijk bij Duurstede,' van Ruisdael (c. 1670)

I liked this piece as it seemed like such a very typical Dutch scene to me. It was painted by Jacob Isaackszon van Ruisdael circa 1670.

Wijk bij Duurstede, my hometown!!!!
The mill on the painting does no longer exists. Its foundations can still be seen a couple of blocks away from the remaining corn mill Rijn and Lek (1659). This mill is the only drive-through windmill in the world.
