The "Muses" are 18 highly stylized instrument playing maidens serving as the stage backdrop.

This was the choir that was practicing while we were there. The acoustics in the hall are phenomenal. Several nights later we returned to try to photograph the exterior of the building as it had been pouring before, and there was an actual concert going on. Even from the street, the sound was magnificent.
