'Bullet' mine elevator

This was a most interesting contraption -- a three-car (vertically) mine elevator that shot up 135 meters at the speed of light (it felt like, anyway). I was a bit nervous about taking it as I had heard of people screaming on it because it was so fast (!), but no way was I going to walk back up the 810 steps we had descended to the third level of the mine. It wasn't bad at all and was actually sort of fun. I thought the control panel on the right was fascinating, as well as the bells that ring every time the elevator is leaving or departing.

I know that in our coal mines the speed of the elevators was very high.. For the transport of persons it was 12 meters/sec, for coalwagons much higher.

sounds like a thrilling ride...this must have been a welcome option for the workers too after a long day in the salt mines...great patterns here.

A fascinating image with these details. The control panel is very cool, you're right. Definitely better taking this than walking up. "V"

i think i'd have the same conundrum - but 820 steps! yikes! this a fabulously detailed shot and i love the way that brilliant red just reaches and grabs attention. V
