CSENGER, Greek Catholic church

Csenger is a small, sleepy town on the Romanian border. We had gone specifically to see this church (a 10-hour day) and it was fascinating, but it turned out that the mayor of Csenger had gotten Makovecz to design five buildings in the town to revitalize it after it had lost its importance as a county center (with the rest of the county now being in Romania). It is the most unlikely place to find such creations, but there they were, waiting for people to come and see them. In fact, there were two other photographers taking pictures of this church, and I understand a French tour group had just come through to see Makovecz's works here. So I guess the mayor was right in his choice of architects!
