Sahraa the wonder dog (story included)

Budapest, Hungary

This story doesn't belong with this picture, but I really would like to relate it for those of you who view this image.

When we were packing out of our house to move to Budapest, we had to move into a hotel towards downtown Washington that was about 15 blocks away. We used to drive to the house from there every day, along with Sahraa. We walked twice after we sold our car. So one day I had to stay at the hotel to work, while my husband and Sahraa went to the house as the painters were there. The painter left the gate open, and she left the premises. He went chasing after her, but couldn't keep up (she is like a gazelle when she runs, except she knows nothing about cars and traffic...) and he even got a police cruiser to help chase her. They couldn't catch her, and suddenly she was gone.

It turns out that she ran all the way to our hotel, marched in the front door and got on an elevator. She got off on the wrong floor (she's not that smart ;-)), but went to our room on the different floor and parked herself by the front door. I guess she thought I was still there, but I had in the meantime walked to the house. The hotel staff put her in our room for us until we got back.

That is what I call a pretty amazing dog!

Sharaa is definitely skilled at visually mapping her new world inspite of the differences between desert and city life.

A gorgeous photo! Don't you ever deny that dogs have feelings! I've seldom seen a dog look so emotionally snug! Snug as a bug in a rug!

Wow, this is another amazing story. I tell you, she has nine lives for sure. She is also very, very smart. V

Love those expressive eyes. She was probably suffering from a bit of separation anxiety and was making sure not to lose you. I think rescues and strays are often sent to us when we are ready to accept them into our lives. They often turn out to be especially unique and loving. Wonderful portrait.

Such an amazing story of a very smart dog. I think she has got a tasty treat when you found that she had come back on her own.
She is a beauty.

This sounds like Hunter Jean. We are having our front room, dining room and stairs to the upstairs painted. They painters had the front door open, Monday. She would not go outside. She stayed in the house. I guess being over-protecting parents, we learn something about her, today.

What a wonderful story about Sahrra. It sounds like a clip from a film! I am glad she didnt come to any harm and she got to the hotel safely...
