angel's trumpet

Brugmansia x candida (Solanaceae).

Angel's trumpet is considered poisonous and is on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA)
Poisonous Plants List. Parts of this plant contains the poisonous belladonna alkaloids atropine,
scopolamine, and hyoscyamine. Angel's trumpet is common in Hawaii and occasionally gets a curious
child into an emergency room. I drive past this particular plant almost every day.

Submitted for the Thursday 03/06/08 Totally Informal Transglobal Challenge Topic: “Something Sinister”.

Guest 06-Mar-2008 12:27
Interesting botanical fact, perhaps that's why the blooms are oriented towards the ground, pointing to where they receive nourishment & stability and potentially their next victim. Sinister indeed
