Inaugural Knoxville Marathon, Knoxville, Tennessee. March 20, 2005

The inaugural Knoxville Marathon. Fairly hilly course, especially the first half marathon.

Pre race inside the Knoxville Convention Center Sunsphere seen from the rear of the Convention Center during my warmup walk Crowds of runners milling about prior to the start The 4:30 pace sign - I lined up just opposite it
Sunsphere up close (and beheaded) Another pre-race photo Early in the race - near the River Another early shot
Runners coming down the hill - looking back along the course About to climb a hill in the high rent district Somewhere early in the race - already lathered Jennifer Browning - fellow Dead Runner. We encountered on the course and then ran together for about 7 miles
Jennifer's hubby - Mike Browning. He volunteered at least briefly. Through an industrial area just after the half-marathon point More warehouse district I didn't know Knoxville had skyscrapers
A bridge we would cross going back toward the finish Another city scape shot Runners following me across the bridge Runners in the background - Kudzu in the foreground
One of the bridges across the Tennessee River Looking across the river Big grin in the Old City Big smile for the camera while running through the Old City
There he goes! Down the final chute to the Stadium entrance The Jumbotron in Neyland Stadium Sprinting to the finish line
On the Jumbotron Finishing run Almost getting some air Sprinting now
Striding to the final mat Looking back at the finish line after I collected my finisher's shirt Spectators in the stands at Neyland Stadium Another view of Neyland Stadium
