Waiting

Waitng for the Whirling Dervishes Ceremony.

I've seen the dervishes in Turkey and Egypt also and I can say that this is a
totally different experience. Much less "touristy" with a much more relaxed
atmosphere, held at the shrine of Imam in the middle of a cemetary in
Omdurman. Everyone must eat before the dervishes perform - trays of beans
appear from the shrine and are passed around to everyone. People set up little
stalls selling tea, cigarettes, beads and other knick-knacks (mostly "essential"
items for lack of better wording). Know one knows when or even if the dervishes
will perform, bloodballs are thrown out of the shrine and when it happens the
crowd really gets into it. All of the sudden the dervishes are done and simply
walk off, the crowd disperses, and everyone asks themselves what just happened.
If your there I would definitely recommend to go.

Taken at the shrine of Imam in Omdurman, Khartoum, Sudan.
