Two Images:

The female Wood Duck has a lame foot/leg and can only stand/walk on one. I suspect that she had an encounter with a snapper. The male is most attentive to her, sticking close to her and constantly nudging and nibbling at her as if to say " It's OK Honey, I'll look after you. I still love you, even if you only have one leg."
