Posting 1 of 4 in a SERIES of postings of a mother racoon and five kits crossing a creek to a sewer pipe on the other side. I've numbered the kits #'s 1 to 5 with # 1 being the first to swim to the other side and the first to enter the sewer and # 5 being the last. I don't recall ever seeing racoons swim, let alone a whole family.

Top image: Mom and kit #1 walking towards us along the East shore. At first it appeared that there was only one kit as the others were not in view.
"We've been spotted" and #1 kit immediately turns to enter the water whilst Mom stares us down.
#1 kit swimming towards the west shore of the creek.
Mom has caught up to kit #1 as they approach the west shore.
As Mom and kit #1 scrambled to the west shore, we spotted two more kits, one (#5) was just mounting a large rock along the east shore, whilst kit # 2 was coming down the far embankment towards the creek.
