Two images of the Thick-billed Kingbird.
In a previous posting ( http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/145754116 ), I indicated that this was reportedly only the second or third sighting of this bird in our province, Ontario. However, according to an article in the Bird Column of our local paper today, I was wrong. According to this article, this bird has only been seen once before in the whole of Canada. That was over 30 years ago in British Columbia, which is on the Pacific coast far above Arizona and Mexico where the bird generally resides. How the current one drifted all the way NE to Ontario some 3000km from its normal habitat is a mystery.

Lunch is served. This is one of many wasps that we saw the Kingbird catch and consume.
