Our last four days in Newfoundland we stayed at Wilton’s B&B, in Steady Brook, located on the West coast. This was another terrific B&B. From here, we made day trips. The first one to Port-aux Basques to visit my wife’s friend with whom she had worked in Ontario over 50 years ago. They had exchanged Christmas greetings/letters every year since then but had not seen each other during all these years. It was a great reunion. We got to meet the whole family and to share a delicious dinner with them.
Our second day trip was to Gros Morne National Park. This is a beautiful park with snow still lingering on some of the mountain peaks. The above image of a juvenile Bald Eagle was taken from a tour boat out of Rocky Harbour in Gros Morne. We also saw several groups of Dolphins skimming the surface of the water around the boat during the two hour cruise.
We spent our final day exploring Corner Brook and surroundings, then alas, it was time to say “So long, till we meet again”.
