20101119 504 White-tailed Buck, 10 pointer SERIES.jpg

Old Quarry Trail

Two images of THE BOSS, wounded but still in charge and on the hunt.

Top Image: In hot pursuit of an other Doe, in spite of some injuries.

Still in pursuit. Note, the scrape wounds on his hind flank. A week ago he only had the one (left) wound. Since then he must have been in an other fight as there now is a new wound exposing some flesh. A few days after taking these shots, I spotted an other 10 point, but smaller Buck with several deep wounds and a missing point from its right rack. He probably lost the fight with The Boss. This other Buck is constantly licking its wounds and I'm afraid the wounds may get infected and that the Buck will suffer considerably and possibly die.

These are very beautiful shots, Hank. Hopefully, he will heal over with no lasting ill effects. This happens a lot in the wild and animals can usually cope. It doesn't look too bad, and so there is hope that it will heal well without infection setting in. I think he will be OK.

Displays of some raw power within nature.
Hopefully nature (man) will be kind to their plight.
