20101106 012 Coyote SERIES.jpg

Old Quarry Trail

Two images of a Coyote. A friend and I were walking down some trails hoping to find White-tailed Deer, especially some mature bucks which had been reported in the area. Suddenly my friend spotted movement in the tall grass at the top of a ridge. It turned out to be a Coyote. I got off about six hand-held shots through the grasses and shrubs before the Coyote slouched away beyond the ridge. The shots were taken at considerable distance; hence, the images posted are heavy crops. We subsequently spotted four Deer in the same area, two adult does and two fawns.

These images are very sharp, Hank, which I attribute to steady hands, your camera settings, and a VR lens! Nice work.
Nora van Beek09-Nov-2010 00:52
Very sharp and clear for cropped images. I'm surprised you spotted him. He blends in well with his surroundings.

Very, very nice shots of this marvelous (and unfairly maligned) animal. Seeing one of these is always a thrill because it doesn't happen often. Getting photos is a bonus. You did well. Good reflexes I think to be so quick.
