20090126 494 Great Gray Owl - SERIES.jpg

Dunrobin

Three images, with various perches and views, of The Great Gray Owl found close to the road.
Above, Back View. A quick peek over its shoulder to see what we are all up to.

Front View. Looking down at us. Note how well it blends in with the tree trunk.

Side View. Back hunting mice or voles. It would sit for a while at each location, do a 360 degree very concentrated check for dinner. When none detected, move to an adjacent perch and do it all over again, only occasionally looking in our direction.

Another great series Hank. The first one is so well framed and captured but I'm still amazed by the thinness of the supporting branches. The second shows the reason for the incredible colouring on the feathers and the third has such detail!! Top photography Hank!!BV
