6 cm barite specimen from the Old Rake Vein, Hard level, Old Gang Mines, Reeth, Swaledale, North Yorkshire, England, UK.

Similar composite barite crystals were collected by Sir A. Russell in 1930 from Nentsberry Mine (Sun vein), Alston, Cumbria. This morphology is said to be characteristic of deposits in which barium carbonate minerals are common (Symes & Young 2008, pg 129).
