In December of 2012 I was finally able to check off a major item on my photographic bucket list when my wife and I embarked on a week long trip to the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. While a week was hardly enough to even fully explore one island, it was all we had so we made the best of it. Kauai is the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain and also the wettest...especially during the rainy winter months. This weather pattern made for an interesting week. High winds, high surfs, downpours followed by clearings and a plethora of rainbows. One thing for sure, the conditions weren't boring!

Undoubtably, the highlight of the trip was a doors off helicopter tour we took of the island. For someone who's hardly fond of heights, this trip was exhilirating to say the least...especially given the afore-mentioned weather conditions. By the time we landed, we were queasy, windblown and wet. But I had a memory card full of photos and still managed to be smiling from ear to ear.
