Quebec Artist Germain Guenette Artworks

This is a small sample of the fabulous abstract artworks by the well know Quebec artist Germain Guenette. Germain has been painting for many years now . His mentor was the famous Quebec artist Guido Molinari who passed away a few years ago. Germain's artwork are in many private collections here in Canada as well as the U.S.A. and Europe. It is with great sadness that I have to tell you about Germain today. After visiting our friend Raymond, Germain left to go home walking along Ste Catherine st and Amherst st in Montreal. Germain had a fatal heart attack there and passed away on Saturday March 17th . Germain you will be sadly missed you were such a wonderful person and an inspiration to us all. Germain was an amazing artist and person. He had the time for a lot of people in his life . There were so many good things about Germain I don't know where to begin. I guess that is why we were friends. He had this certain way about him bigger than life itself and Germain had the most amazing smile it would light up a room. Germain's approach to his artwork was total dedication he was a true master of his work. He didn't let little upsets in his life get in the way of him making great artwork. On a few different occasions I had brought some art collectors to his studio apt in Montreal . I wanted them to see Germain's work . Everybody was blown away by the beauty of his work and they couldn't believe that Germain had such a large body of work. Germain usually over did himself in many respects of his life. He had just met a few of my friends and Germain had insisted that we come for supper that next evening a few years ago. Germain put on one of the biggest spreads of food and wine and dessert that I have ever seen . He must have been cooking in the kitchen the whole day! Germain loved cooking a good meal for his friends. Germain had just met these friends of mine he didn't have to go to so much effort just for my friends but he did and they really appreciated it . Germain was a true gentleman an amazing spirit . I am sure that there is a heaven and that Germain is there right now painting and doing his thing . Germain and I had talked many times about some of his close friends who had passed before him and I like to think that when Germain had passed that his friends and family members were there waiting for him helping him . Telling him everything would be alright and not to worry . I am sure Germain is watching each and every one who ever touched his life in some way . Germain would not want us to be sad. I am sure he would want all of us to rejoice in his life and to always treat everybody that comes into our life with the utmost respect and love that we can give. Please if you have a little story you would like to write here on this page. 	This is a picture of Germain in Niagara falls . It was on a trip with his good friend Raymond and Gunars and I . We had such a nice time that day . Germain took some pictures and went under the falls. We got a bit wet but it was a lot of fun.
	Germain and I had just met through our mutual friend Raymond . I was in Montreal for a few weeks that year I think it must have been about five or seven years ago. Anyway Germain and I had decided to take a bike ride that day . Well Germain is quite the bike rider and can go long distances as I like to do . I couldn't believe that he could keep up with me and I he couldn't believe that I could keep up with him. It was a very hot and sunny day that day we went for the bike ride . After about a seven or eight hour ride we went home to Germain's place for a little something to eat and then we went over to Raymond's were I was staying. I was so sun burnt that night I couldn't move it hurt so much. Germain was nice enough to walk me over to the drug store so I could get some noxzema to put on the burn . On the way we ran into his his friend Greg . Germain had told me of Greg and said that the opal in his ring came from him . Anyway got back to Raymond's and before we left I had put a wet dish cloth in the freezer so I put this frozen cloth on my whole top of my body and just sat there looking like a burnt lobster. Germain and Raymond were laughing so hard it made me laugh and you know what you get like when you laugh so much you almost piss your self this is what it was like the whole night laughing and having a good time. Germain was such a good guy to hang around you could tell him anything and he would always be supportive. He was such an amazing person I really loved Germain as one of my friends . I will always remember the good times with Germain. If I shut my eyes and think about the good times its like it were yesterday and I feel good and I am thank full for the wonderful experiences that life has brought to me . G.S. 2007

J'ai une toile chez moi d'un artiste de Montréal nommé Germain Guénette. Son travail ici ressemble un peu à ce que j'ai chez moi. J'ai acquéri cette toile il y a une 30aines d'années. Je ne sais pas si c'est le même artiste car je ne le reconnais pas sur les photos.....mais la toile ressemble à son travail.

J'ai jamais rencontré Germain personnellement, seulement via internet. J'admirais son art profondément. Il m'avait même invité a voir ses toiles...et je n'y étais jamais allé...on se parlait parcontre tres souvent sur msn et j'ai tjrs en fond d'écran d'ordinateur une peinture (ma préféré) qui est bleue et blanche et qui ne portait pas de nom. Il était tres content de savoir que ses oeuvres me plaisait.... J'espere pouvoir me procurer une de ses toiles un jour, j'aimerais la toile sans nom bleue et blanche qui était cachée dans le fond de son atelier...

Germain, ami du centre-ville tu as été cet ami urbain que l'on voisinait et croisait par hazard au coin d'une rue , comme mercredi soir d'avant qui nous avais réunis sur mon balçon en se promettant des soirées d'été effervessantes, a venir.L'artiste maitrise la vie par son art en lui offrant la survie au travers des âges, tu nous laisses une oeuvre qui vas survivre, une oeuvre récente très forte, tu avais des choses et des choses a raconté que tu as écris avec ta spatule et ce fut les plus belles phrases que tu as écrite et abandonné au temps qui vas se chargé de les faire lire. I met Germain through a mutual friend nick-named Sherpas. I found Germain to be a very warm & caring human being as well as an extremely talented artist. I had begun painting in 2001 & had given one of my works to Sherpas for his 43rd birthday. When Germain saw it, he truly appreciated it & asked about me ... Did I have training, did I paint a lot, etc. Since I have never taken any classes, the fact that Germain, a renowned artist, liked this painting has always been a motivating factor for me to continue to create. I shall forever be grateful to him for that. Rest in peace, Germain. I am certain that Sherpas has met you at those golden gates of heaven. My sincere condolences to all of his friends & family. HI,i was so sad to see Gremain pass away ,i didn't know him very well .I knew him true Raymond and Greg ,and wnen he was comming at Stud bar for a drink the time i was working there ,but what i knew from him is that he was a fun loving guy with a good sense of humor and a great smile ,so let keep our head up and face life with a smile like Gremain was doing ...Charles Gallant ,from N.B love you all

Germain, Tu as été tout au long de ton cheminement de vie; un enfant, un adulte mais surtout un artiste en soi. Pas évident à tous les instants pour toi, nous le savons, la compréhension n’était pas toujours au rendez-vous. Mais une chose est sûre, ta joie de vivre, ton instinct de création, ta personnalité t’ont permis d’accomplir bien des rêves, que nul ne peut penser. Pour un dernier au revoir, nous serons à tes côtés : Maison Darche 505 Curé-Poirier à Longueuil Exposition, lundi le 26 mars entre 16:00 et 19:30 suivi d'une liturgie à la chapelle Tu seras toujours avec nous. My impression of Germain was that he was determined to live as he liked, and take his chances, come what may. He did not seem inclined to give up his passions, he liked strong drink and drank, he never resigned himself to a conservative or cautious or frightened way of living. I admired this in him. He made his life as full as he could, full of the pleasures he enjoyed and found rewarding, and whenever I saw him, he seemed as strong as a bull. Even when last in the hospital, in December I think it was, with pneumonia, though maybe a little more subdued than usual, he seemed more or less himself, a little weaker maybe, but still charmingly playing host, as best as he could in the circumstances, in his usual debonair way. He had quite a distinctive style, both in his art and in his personality, and I'm glad to have had, for a few years anyway, the pleasure and privilege of his acquaintance. I do not think he was ready to go, and I am sorry he had to leave before he probably wanted to. Life is unfair to all of us in different degrees. I am glad at least that he went quickly. I still cannot quite believe that he is gone.

Mon oncle Germain, oui je sais t'aime pas ça quand je t'appelle mon oncle..... j'attend encore ta voix me le répéte: Non appelle-moi pas de même! j'aime pas ça mon oncle ça fait vieux!!! T'es même partir avant de l'être.... Merci pour tout ce que tu as fait pour moi, toute les fois ou tu m'a écouter. Tu m'as n'a faite prendre des prise de consciences!!! Gârce à toi j'ai apris à me connaître et surtout à accecpter qui je suis. Tu vas tellement me manquer ,une partir de toi sera toujours ici avec nous....Bon voyage avec les Anges......
