HAYNES DESCRIPTION:
The post-war 6 cylinder, 2103cc, P3 engine was used as the power unit for the newly introduced P4 range, which adopted full width styling. A distinctive feature of this new model was the spotlight which was mounted in the centre of the radiator grille, from which the 75 P4 took its name ‘Cyclops’. The design of this slab-sided monster was not univerally accepted, but soon the motoring public warmed to its solid build and abundance of wood and leather to earn it yet another nickname of ‘Auntie’. Although the centre spotlight was soon deleted, the 75 formed the basis of all Rover designs for the next 15 years.
