Trustams

My Great Great Great Grandfather was Josiah Trustam (1838-1911).

The Trustam Organ Company was established in 1837 by James Trustam. His eldest son, Josiah, joined the business known as J Trustam and Son.

Josiah's youngest brother, Arthur, then became a partner and for the remainder of its existence until 1911, the firm had the title J and A Trustam. The company also employed some of their sons.

There is still evidence of their work with new organs, rebuilds and repairs all over Bedfordshire and some in the surrounding counties of Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire,Kent and Suffolk.

From the National Pipe Organ Register you will be able to find over 53 listings of Trustam Organs and the details of location and manufacture.

We also have in the family a Harmonium, built by The Trustams, currently on loan to St Marys Church, Harlington, Bedfordshire, to sit alongside their recently installed and renovated Trustam Pipe Organ.

Hence my interest in anything Trustam!
