Temora Aviation Museum is situated outside Temora in the Central West of NSW. Shows are held about every two months. These were shot in November 2007 and September 2009. The September 2009 show featured the first public showing of the restored CAC Sabre in company with an RAAF F/A-18 Hornet.
In 1942 a USAF pilot named William Felker force landed his P40 in the Owen Staley mountains, PNG. In 1973 most of his body was recovered and sent off to the US embassy. The report to me at the time was that it had landed intact, the body was in the cockpit, it did not burn, although it is likely that later grass fires did damage to "skin" of the aircraft. There are reasons/suspicions the pilot actually survived the crash. To the best of my knowledge the aircraft is still listed as "missing" however I believe it will be easy to locate if amyone is interested. It is in PNG so "taking it" will have difficulties, actually removing it would appear relatively simple and the aircraft appears intact (save two machine guns taken and placed in the Kokoda museum!). The aircraft numbers were not taken as the pilot was found and identified. Is any organisation interested?
