Taken at the Old Quarry Trail. Saw many Bohemian Waxwings at the same spot this owl hangs out at. Someone estimated 250 Bohemain Waxwings at the same spot as the Hawk owl last weekend.
From the parking lot at the Old Quarry Trail in Ottawa, take the right-most trail (the only one that allows dog walking) and go past the hydro station. Just past that, the trail turns left. The owl is perched either on the hydro poles, wires or the trees on the right. If you do not see it, go around to the wooded area on the right. It's either perched low in front of the trees or inside the woods. It has been there for several weeks now. The walk from parking lot to the owl loaction is about 2 minutes of easy walking on a flat surface.
A Boreal Owl was seen at the Fletcher Wildlife Gardens in Ottawa on Saturday across the pond from the big red barn. I understand it has been there for a month. Also check the butterfly meadow area where it has also been seen.
