I recently found out a great gray owl has returned to a particular location east of Ottawa. According to the property owner, it was seen regularly (in January 2010) until after the freezing rains hit awhile back. It has been seen since then but much less frequently. Unfortunately, I will not be able to disclose the location. For one thing, it's on private property. It is not the owl recently reported to Ontbirds in Balderson. Similar to the owl at Balderson, this great gray apparently keeps returning to the same location, or it has been doing so for a number of the past several winters.
