My timing must be good because almost each time I show up, the heron is catching something. I arrived just in time to see the heron land with the Catfish. Based on previous experience I knew what to expect. No time to pull out the flash or anything. I adjusted the camera settings as I was walking towards it. Saw the background was very bright and made some quick in-camera changes. Knowing your exposures helps in situations like this. As you can see, the heron had already started to soften up dinner.
