Granville Island, Vancouver

an enjoyable photo challenge resorting to film again, yet a sobering lesson learned...buying, processing, and paying for a scan to CD, cost Can$41/US$31/Euros 28/ or British pound 23.8, and this for a roll of 24 exposures...according to camera store staff, B&W film is now a niche market!!...a second roll of film has already been loaded into the camera, yet suspect it may be the last one for quite a while, and selectively exposed at that

Nikon F80 - Nikkor 28-200mm - Ilford Delta 100

on the technical side, despite the wide tonal range of Delta 100, a yellow filter was mounted on the lens, and shots deliberately underexposed by 1/2 stop

The price seems so high and cost prohibitive. I really like the light. Well composed too. V

A skilled work and so nicely done! The image rivals the best digital to my eyes, David. V

A wonderful capture on Ilford film! I use to love to process B&W film!

Great scene David…a shame the expense is so much. The lens, camera and film combination are hard to argue with. True you will think twice, but that is the point I think.

Great tones and comp, David. Fun experiment with film. V

Ouch !! Better take Bill's advice :) This shot takes me back, way back, to my first film camera - and to our days sailing in an identical boat to this on Van. Island. Super shot - there really is a retro mood to it. V

A wonderful addition to this monochrome gallery. The many diagonals add energy while the perspective conveys the depth so nicely. Superb clarity and value range in this beautifully photographed image David. VVV

Fantastic result from your challenge, great tones and details.

Can't beat film for tones and detail, but may require curtailing visits to the local refreshment shop. V

love it. I applaud your sense of purity with B&W ~ V

Composition, tones and contrasts are all fine here. Using b&w film sure slows down the trigger finger, and makes for more thoughtfully produced images. "V"

Great capture and work with the use of real film. V

you did an awesome job with the exposure and the processing seems to be first rate. A great mono image. ~BV~

The image has to be one of your very best, color or B&W The quality is outstanding and it is a pleasure to view. Big vote, David

Got me thinking about more black and white David, this is great with so much detail..

It's a beautiful capture, but it sounds far too expensive and time consuming for me nowadays. My days of film and processing are over.

Very nice scene, suits the B&W just fine. 23 quid sounds a bit steep!

I understand your dilemma exactly. I have two film bodies I love, an F4 and N90s, but film costs are just too great and one feels somewhat limited shooting film after using digital for so long.
