tangle

a tangle of kelp stranded on the beach by Esquimalt Lagoon..the bull kelp features a sort of 'gas bag' that helps with flotation..the tide was coming in at this moment, so perhaps it was later swept back into the sea

yes Marie-Jose, dried and roasted it is evidently edible. yet certain carbohydrates in bull kelp can be difficult to digest...fresh it would not be a good choice, as that 'gas bag' bladder contains carbon monoxide..

Wonderful shot that makes me believe I can smell the salt air. I was always fascinated by these great ropes of kelp. Excellent image. V
