lights out

at the end of the day the lights are going out at Burgoo, popular for its hearty stews and soups..the lights are also going out permanently at many other establishments, as this year a record number of restaurants are expected to close forever...the state of the economy, strict new drink-driving laws, and an additional 7% tax on meals are all keeping customers away

the bureaucracy is the enemy....first kill business...then kill life...this is such a warm looking spot....lights out...what a shame......V

Very sad statement on the worlds economy and the effects of additional taxes and laws.
Nice composition. V

So sad that so many are having to close their businesses. Makes me sad. This is a great shot, though, David! Love your night shots! ::)

When we were in Vancouver six years ago we had to be early to the restaurants, or if not we had to be prepared to wait for a table...what a shame to see this happen, but it's the same the world over...the 7% tax on food doesn't help!

Wonderful photo David! V
There is never a good time for additional taxes ~ especially now.
Mairéad02-Mar-2011 20:51
Beautiful shot, capturing t he intimacy of the nighttime shadows yet
catching enough colour and detail. V
It's the same story here, lots of restaurants and even pubs closing their doors as
the recession bites - drink driving laws also a factor, particularly in rural areas.

Great shot David, it is the same everywhere, though I think it is the economy more than anything. We have noticed a lack of people even in Tim Hortons and they don't serve liquor but that extra 7% makes a difference even on a cup of coffee and muffin...

Nice perspective and lighting from multiple light sources. "V"
While I agree with drink-driving laws, this is no time to add additional taxes.
Paco López02-Mar-2011 16:37
Excellent! V!

Beautiful perspective and exposure! Love the loneliness in this scene, no human at all...does indeed explain your story! V.

A wonderful picture and a sad economy! V
