markets and martyrs

Campo de' Fiori, Rome

the morning market in Campo de' Fiori carries on a tradition dating back to mediaeval times...the open space was used for many public events, including executions...the hooded statue is of Giordano Bruno, a philosopher who challenged some of the church's beliefs, and so was burnt alive in this very square

Lively presentation of this famous market and in fact the pick-pockets are an essential part of it! :-)

Opinions that differ can cause great turmoil, but Bruno is still remembered. A fine image and an interesting narrative to accompany it.
