B.C.'s Dead Forests

The pine beetle has devastated the forests of British Columbia. The Government has been battling the problem, trying to come up with innovative ways to use the overwhelming abundance of dead wood before it is too rotten to use. The effect on many northern communities is disastrous as sawmills are gradually closing down.

The damned things have shown up here as well. There was some talk in Nov/Dec that the cold spell we had might have killed them, but it's doubtful.
