Magpie Goose

Mamukala, Kakadu National Park

Known locally as "Bamarru" the Magpie Goose is one of the most important traditional foods of the traditional owners of Kakadu.
They gather in huge flocks on the floodplains of the South Alligator River, one of the environments under serious threat from
climate change and rising sea levels. It won't take much of a change in sea level to flood the vast freshwater wetlands these and
many other species depend on with salt water- as little as 10cm. See the Magpie goose flocks soon- before it's too late!
