Fern-leafed Grevillea, Grevillea pteridifolia

Kakadu National Park, NT, Australia

One of the most spectacular trees in northern Australia, the Fern-leafed grevillea is an important source of food for a variety of
animals while it is in flower. A variety of nectar-feeding birds icluding lorikeets, honeyeaters and orioles visit the flowers, and at
night fruit bats and sugar gliders feed avidly on the abundant nectar. These trees tend to grow on soils that are seasonally
inundated and are subject to attack by termites.
