Tasmanian Waratah, Telopea truncata

Cradle Valley, Tasmania, Australia

Smaller than its mainland counterpart, the Tasmanian Waratah is a popular source of nectar for a variety of honeyeaters that
inhabit Australia's island state, including the somewhat ungainly Yellow wattlebird which sounds remarkably like someone
throwing up. Unfortunately, feral honeybees and bumblebees are now competing with the birds for the sweet nectar
produced by the flower, thus bypassing the pollination mechanisms of this spectacular species of plant.
