This is another country in the series of "Silk Road Journal" that I'm building up since 2006. I travelled through Tehran, Yazd, Kerman, Persepolis (the ruins), Shiraz, Esfahan and a few smaller local towns over an 11 day period in April 2009. Persia has a glorious and ancient legacy that few are aware of, unless you read it's history... It's a cornerstone of magnificant, spellbinding Islamic art and architecture. Travel in Iran is not without it's challenges but the people are genuinely friendly and hospitable, contrary to what you may be reading thru the media.
