We spent a short vacation in Bad Loipersdorf, a hot thermal spa in SE Austria, where we had the chance to observe a partial solar eclipse in the early morning hours of May 31st, 2003.
There was a lot of haze near the horizon which considerably attenuated the already partialy eclipsed rising sun. It was no problem to watch the impressive event without special solar filters for the first 30 minutes.
