The Total Solar Eclipse of March 2006 inspired us to go on a cruise to some of the most interesting and beautiful spots at or near the Mediterranean coast. Embarkation was in Genoa/Italy, where we went on board of the MSC Sinfonia on March, 22nd. This new and comfortable ship brought us to places like Naples/Pompeii, Syracuse-Taormina on Sicily, Alexandria-Giza/Egypt, Libya, where we saw totality SE of Tobruk, and where we also visited the magnificent ruins of Leptis Magna, and finally Malta, where we disembarked and flew back to Austria.
The ship had room for 1600 passengers and was booked out completely. About two third came from the USA, several hundreds from Italy, and the "rest" from dozens of other countries.
