Burg Guessing was the hungarian counterpart to the Riegersburg. Like that castle it had been erected at the top of an extinguished vulcano in the 12th century, with extensive modifications in the 16th century, when the turks conquered the greater part of Hungary and even made it to Vienna twice ( without success).
