Ross took this in very slight rain. The birds are well known to us for sharpening their beaks on the cement joining the ridge caps.
Re-cementing has been necessary over the decades.

1/250s f/6.3 at 270.0mm iso500. With APS sensor f/l becomes 415mm full exif
