Cat's Paw - NGC 6334

AAPOD2: 9 February 2019

The Cat's Paw Nebula is a large emission nebula around 50 light years across that lies in the constellation Scorpius approximately 5500 light years away.

NGC 6334 is one of the most vigorous star forming regions in the Milky Way. The nebula also contains luminous blue stars only a few million years old that are many times the mass of the Sun. The nebula also contains many infant stars that are buried deep in the dust and gas, making them difficult to see.
