Wood Duck on Wood!

I have never seen Wood Ducks anywhere but in the water or by the water's edge. That is, until I saw this one sitting on a branch in Delta Ponds. And it was pretty high up in this old dead snag at that. Naturally, I had to get a shot of that!

Don't know that I've seen one in a tree before either.

Wow, it really is a wood duck! Must have done that before to get its name?

I agree. I cannot recall seeing a duck in a tree.

How low could a wood duck duck if a wood duck could duck wood.

Lovely colourful little duck... our Oz wood ducks are a mottled brown and they nest
in trees, but when the babies hatch they get tossed out of the nest and taken down
to the dam of water... they do this each spring & nest in our ancient tree. v
