In order to get this shot I left home in Yorkshire before 2am, arriving in Herringfleet, Norfolk around 4:45am. Sunrise was at 5:06am. When I saw the misty marshes I knew the shots were going to be spectacular but time was running short. I ended up running from the car park to the mill with two cameras, tripod and several lenses. I had the camera set and placed ready for dawn with about 5 minutes to spare. Who says this landscape photography game is not energetic?
Google Earth used to plan the trip, finding the carpark, paths and directions to the Mill. I used a sun compass to know exactly where the sun would rise.
