While sitting in the sun yesterday before an appointment in Toronto's financial district, I noticed a number of teenage girls having their pictures taken in front of or climbing on this sculpture by Bill (William) Hodd McElcheran. Whether this is now some new 'rite of passage' for teenagers, some form of scavenger hunt, or just a crazy thing to do on impulse I don't know. McElcheran's work is becoming much more well known and valuable, but probably he never envisioned it used in this way. Neither I would think did the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, on whose property it stands..
