City of Sausalito - the translation of the spanish name is: 'Place of Abundance'. William Richardson(1795-1856) was the first claimed and developed the site of Sausalito as a private ranch. After the Miwok indians left, Juan de Ayala(1745-1797)a spanish naval officer, wrote about the Miwok Tribe: They are 'Very faithful in their friendship and so docile in their disposition'. After postwar years, Sausalito got a reputation as a wealthy and artistic enclave. A residential community incorporated a large numbers of houseboats and floating houses. Sausalito, is now part of Marin County CA, with 7,061 population (census 2010).
