There he was, sitting in that strange little boat, fly fishing for trout.
Quamichan Lake, just east of Duncan, BC, is a popular fishing hole and open
year round, however we'd never seen a boat like this in the lake. Definitely
self propelled, the fisherman was wearing a waist high pair of something like
rubber waders with swim fins attached to the feet. He sat on a bench, between the
pontoons, with his feet lowered into the water and simply kicked his feet,
like he was swimming, to move the boat. There was little rowing involved, he
used the oars more for steering. A really low impact, eco friendly, 'green'
approach to getting around on the water....good exercise for the legs too.
Oh...no, we didn't see him catch anything, but not for want of trying!
