We visited this site during an end of the year trip down island to Victoria. I've passed here many
times and never stopped to photographed the lighthouse, but then I never thought of shooting it in
B&W before either. Fisgard Lighthouse was built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was
not yet part of Canada. It was the first permanent lighthouse on Canada's west coast and is now
classified as a National Historic Site. The lighthouse is located at the entrance to Esquimalt
harbour and was once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still
marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.
