Great Blue Herons are not an unusual sigth in Yellowstone, however this is the first one we've seen perched in a tree. It wasn't too inclined to leave its perch, it just sat there preening and ruffling its feathers, providing in nice scene for those watchings. Great Blue Heron facts: Their call is a harsh croak. The heron is most vocal during the breeding season, but will call occasionally at any time of the year in territorial disputes or if disturbed.
