A medium-sized goose that breeds on the arctic tundra, the Snow Goose travels south in very large, high-flying, noisy flocks. We were fortunate to be in the Skagit Flats when the flocks started landing in October. It was an awesome sight to watch the thousands of geese settle onto the Fir Island Refuge for the evening.
