Seattle Center is home to two of the more interesting buildings in the Seattle area. The Space Needle is the signature feature of Seattle's skyline and is well loved despite being a bit like a cheesy alien saucer. Experience Music Project is nothing if not intriguing but in my opinion it is a gaffe of colossal proportions by the normally interesting Frank Gehry. While it is supposed to evoke the smashed guitars of famous Seattle native Jimi Hendrix, I've heard it variously described more accurately as something that crawled out of the sea and died; the world's largest tie-dyed amoeba and finally as the natural outcome of giving the Space Needle an enema after it ate a large helping of Rainbow Sherbet. At least it is still good fodder for the lens at any rate. The photos:
