Cougar Mountain is a local park at the foothills of the Cascade Range. The scenery doesn't compare to that of some of the other places in Washington but the convenience of its location makes it an attractive destination for short walks after work or in the offseason or on rainy days. The area had several uses before it was a park including mining, logging, and homesteading as well as a military installation that was a Nike missile launch site.
