It failed to operate December 17, 2010 causing a camera error 01.
I cleaned the lens contacts and that did not fix the problem.
When I looked through the lens I noticed the aperture was not fully open.
I tried the lens on another camera and had the same failure.
I then went to the Canon website and initiated a repair request.
Received email from Canon on 12/22/2010 with an estimate of $203.56 to replace the lens mount.

Received Error 01 12/29/2017. Sent to Canon for repair on 2/5/2018.
Received flat rate repair estimate of $344.30 on 2/8/2018.
Contact of the power diaphram assembly was faulty and was replaced along with the rubber mount, L indicator ring and straight guide keys.
Lens focus was adjusted, checked, cleaned and lubricated. Received from Canon 2/13/2018.
